Jacoby Excavating was established in 1960.  In the beginning, our primary customers were Wyoming Sand and Stone Co., and local building contractors Jerry Philbin, K. B. Leonard, and Ed Mc Farland.  These builders were considered "Top Quality", and were well known to the Clarks Summit, Scranton, and surrounding areas.  We  were also closely associated with Richard Green, one of the area's largest excavating contractors.  We worked both for and with him many times through the years.  Our services included trucking and hauling.  We also handpicked and delivered stonewall rock to about 5-10 contractors for retaining walls. 

Gradually we grew to a point where we needed more trucks and employees, so in 1967 we bought a new tandem truck.  The next spring (1968), we purchased the first two tri-axles in our area.  Later that summer, we acquired a John Deere backhoe and a Case front-end loader on track.  This brought our equipment total to 7 trucks and 2 machines.

In 1972 the Agnes Flood brought a lot of destruction to our area, and we were employed by various contractors during the clean up and restoration period.

From 1974 to 1995 we purchased more equipment that was on a much bigger scale.  Rock removal and site preparation could be added to our list of services, along with landscaping, screening topsoil, and concrete services.

At the present time we are capable of going to a tract of land and completely prepare it for building.  We can also install utility lines, including sewer, water, etc..

Road Building is what I personally (Ken Jacoby) enjoy the most.  It gives me great pleasure and satisfaction to create a great road for my customers, whether they are individual home owners  or a large development.

We are a family owned and operated business.  Five of our family members work here.  Our other employees have been with us from 6-15 years, and are very skillful and capable people.  "We Take Pride in Our Work and We Do it Right the First Time" is our motto.
